Juventus' new signing Fabio Grosso (31) told local media sources : "I am very pleased to have returned to Serie A and to join Juventus. .... I have been given number six on my jersey. This is a great honour and privilege for me because it was Gaetano Scirea's number at Juventus years ago. He is a football legend and a gentleman who is an example for all players".

Note : This year marks the 20th anniversary of Scirea's death. He died in 1989 at the age of 36 in a car accident - he was the passenger. Scirea was regarded as one of the best sweepers in the world and as a true and quite gentleman who always conducted himself in a very professional way on and off the pitch. He played for Juventus for 14 consecuitve seasons and was also an Italian national team star player from 1974 to 1986. He won all major club titles with Juventus and the 1982 World Cup with Italy.
